my latest interview with orion stephens of baltimore based deathcore act in dying arms.
me - what is your name and what part do you play in the band?
orion - im orion stephens :) i sing for “in dying arms”.
me - when was the band formed?
orion - back in 2006.
me - who came up with naming the band “in dying arms”?
orion - i did :) while brainstorming online lol.
me - which bands/artists influence you personally as a vocalist?
orion - me as a vocalist? hmm mitch lucker, phil bozeman for my screams definately. cleans, i just do me lol.
me - what is the scene like over in baltimore? and is there any other local talent we should know about?
orion - the scene in baltimore is one of the worst, not good :( but there are bands you should check out. (camisado)
me - so youve just released your brand new single “the core of my existence”, and not long back you released your second album “in dying arms”, what has the response been like for both so far?
orion - the response for the sefl-titled was GREAT of course some haters here and there. but with this new single, ive never seen so much good feedback before. its great.
me - is the new singles to be featured on an upcoming album/ep?
orion - it will be on our next album which we plan to release LATE 2012.
me - which song are you most proud of writing so far?
orion - the new single definately, next will be delusions. :)
me - when it comes down to writing songs, what is the bands song writing process, and how do the songs usually come about?
orion - word, our guitarist justin will map out an insane blueprint. he has his own home studio. we throw in suggestions or changes and work together to make it a whole. and i work on my lyrics and vocal arrangements once we have a good pre-production song layed out.
me - do you have any upcoming shows/tours in the near future?
orion - yes! tour later this month with onward to olympas, fit for a king and for all i am. then in february with dr. acula, the devastated and design the skyline.
me - what should someone who has never seen you lads play live before expect from a live show?
orion - a lot of heaviness and lots of energy. and me yelling at everyone in the crowd :) idk expect a good ass time!
me - so what are the overall plans for the band this year?
orion - to keep touring and making great music no matter what!
